Help and Happy Scraps!

Remember my box full of procrastination? (February 4th posting)
Well, thanks to my wonderful mom, I now have a box full of happy scraps. While she was here visiting she insisted we tackle the box of scraps, but I don't think she quite knew what she was in for even though we did it in several small sessions.
I would carry down a grocery bag full at a time and we would sit and chat and sort and then I'd go get more. We decided to sort by color and we also made a bag of scrap binding. At one point during the great scrap event, she finally asked if there was more.....oh yeah mom, there's more.

Needless to say I have a great mom/friend. Projects like these are made so much more fun and easy when you have someone to chat and laugh with as you're working away.
In fact, in the near future me and some BF's are going to do a sewing room intervention of one of our other BF's (you know who you are)
While we were working away and chatting we also came up with some ideas for project organization that I'll share with you, but that's for another day.
After we sorted the behemoth box of procrastination we put them all in zip close bags. This picture shows a portion of the color sorted, neatly bagged, happy scraps. Now I just need to get some pretty boxes or bins and label them for easy retrieval.

I also put aside some of my larger scraps and some extra fabric from my stash to send up to her church for their charity projects. Heaven knows I have fabric to spare!
Are your scraps happy?

Ducky Quilt update

Hi There.
Well, here it is Thursday night and I finally found a spare moment to download my pictures.
Saturday I started sewing the blocks together and it just wasn't doing it for me. The light yellow turned out to be too light and was looking washed out. So back to the cutting board and I decided on the polka dot for the main fabric of the block with the bright yellow polka dot for the accent and borders. I'm glad I made the changes and I am much happier with it now. (I'll find a use for the unused blocks someday.)
I then drew a ducky shape for the quilting using my Fearless Blonde Quilting technique, picked out a great yellow variegated thread and got it quilted. I was hoping to get the binding on today but had way too many errands and a birthday dinner to make this evening for my M.I.L
Friday morning - after my coffee - the binding is top priority and then on to finish the final proof of the new BFF pattern ~ BFF Celebrate Spring ~ with 5 new Spring outfits and pets and accessories. I'll show you soon.

Don't forget to leave your comment on the BFF giveaway post dated March 8th to be in the running to win the goodies. The winner will be announced this Sunday. Good luck.

crib quilt in progress

Here's what I have going under the needle of my sewing machine today.
Please forgive my absence of posts recently. No, I didn't go anywhere, but I was goofing off for a bit while my parents were here on a visit. I had good intentions of posting during their visit but, quite frankly, I was enjoying their company too much to take the time. I only get to see them twice a year so I cherish every moment and they are lots of fun besides. Since they left on Wednesday (boo-hoo, sniffle-sniffle) I did get busy and have started making a class sample for a crib quilt that I will be teaching at a local quilt shop SEW Studio.
Rita, the shop owner, has taken a small sewing shop she started years ago into a vibrant 2 location quilt shop with great fabrics, machine sales, fun classes, charity projects and more. The class I am doing is from my "Blondies" pattern and I found the most adorable ducky fabric in Rita's store for the model. It's a Kathy Hatch design called Rainy Day Ducks from Robert Kaufman Fabrics and I thought it was perfect for a Spring crib quilt. I intend to get the top finished today and start quilting it on Monday.
Note that I did say "intend". I'll see how many interruptions the day may bring, oh well, it keeps me on my toes.

My best friends forever giveaway

No, I'm not giving away my best friends, I'm celebrating them.

So just how good of a BFF are you?

Today starts my giveaway and if you are a real good best friend, you'll tell your best friends about the giveaway so they also have a chance to win.
What will you win?
You'll win all the goodies in the picture. My new BFF Dresses & do's quilt pattern, 9 fat eighths of 30's fabrics to get you started, flesh tone fabrics, 6" squares of asst. solids and hair color fabrics, 3 yards of Steam-a-Seam 2™ fusible web, and.... a $10.00 gift card to Hollywood Video so you can have your best friends over to watch a movie and there's also some microwave popcorn and a package of Peeps for you and your peeps too!
How to win... just post your comment to this post and a winner will be chosen at random. To give you plenty of time to spread the word to your friends, the winner of the prize will be chosen and announced on Sunday March 29th.

I was lucky and spent Saturday evening with some of my BFF's at our favorite quilt shop, stitching, laughing, shopping, and just hanging out and celebrating our friendships. In fact the name of the shop where hang out, is appropriately called Quilt Lover's Hangout. Where do you and your BFF's hangout? Tell us all the name of your favorite shop and what makes it special to you.
In the meantime, celebrate your friends and I hope you win my prize..... but if you don't maybe one your BFF's will and will invite you over to share the popcorn!

Best Friends, best intentions, and lint

Well, I warned you I was a procrastinator didn't I?
Yes, I know it's the 1st week of March and I should be starting my BFF giveaway. I know what the giveaway prize will be. Shhh, it's a secret for now. Sorry to postpone this for a couple of days but I have been soooo busy this past week that I have yet to stage the prize and take the picture so I can post it. I am trying to get another BFF Dresses & do's model finished, finishing up the first companion pattern with additional outfits, getting the guest room ready for my parents coming to visit, laundry, washing the car, dusting (yuck), shipping orders, all that fun glamorous stuff. Tomorrow I am helping hubby with a project in the morning and then it's off to quilting night with some of my BFF's. So it looks like Sunday will be the kick off for the giveaway and for making you wait I'll add something extra. Now I have to go clean the lint out of my sewing machine.
